Ask a Minister

~ A place to find answers to gnawing spiritual questions ~

Question: Did Adam and Eve make heaven? Did they have the choice to receive or reject Christ during the three days between His death and resurrection?

Answer: Yes, I believe Adam and Eve made it into heaven, but they still had to suffer punishment for their sin. God sent Adam and Eve from the garden and they had to deal with a reluctant earth in order to eat. So do we. God clothed Adam and Eve with skins from animals (a type a covering) representing God's mercy and grace. God also clothes us with a garment of righteousness, being justified by faith in this grace wherein we stand.

Even though God forgave Adam and Eve, they were banished from the tree of life and were never allowed to return. The same thing applies to us. We can only partake of the tree of life if we overcome the flesh, the world, and the devil, and obey his commandments (Revelation 21 and 22). We might commit a sin like Adam and Eve, and God may still forgive us, but even though God forgives our sins we must still give an account for the wrong we've done. The best thing to do is live holy and righteous, and obey God's word. This will save some problems and assure eternal life.
