Ask a Minister

~ A place to find answers to gnawing spiritual questions ~

Question: Why was John the Baptist put in prison, and what major thing happened to him there?

Answer:  The short story is:

King Herod seemed to enjoy discussing issues with John the Baptist until John confronted him about his sin. He became angry and had John thrown in prison. Sometime later, due to a rash promise, he had John the Baptist beheaded.

Please read the whole story of John the Baptist in Mark, chapter six; it is quite interesting.
