Ask a Minister

~ A place to find answers to gnawing spiritual questions ~

Question: In Luke 17:37 (Jesus is discussing his second coming with his disciples), it is stated, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather." I am having a problem making a connection between this statement and the previous statements about the two women grinding grain together; and one will be taken, etc. What does one have to do with the other? It seems to be out of place to me. Although I know that it can't be. Perhaps you could help lift the veil for me.

Answer: In answer to your question concerning Luke 17:37, I believe Jesus is talking about the bodies that are slain at the Battle of Armageddon. You may also want to reference Matthew 24:27-28. It would be well to also include Revelation 19:17-21.

Do you have access to a Dake Annotated Reference Bible? It is very enlightening to read his commentary on Bible prophecy.

Where the dead bodies are slain at Armageddon, there the birds will be gathered. Christ is not a dead body, nor are the saints eagles or vultures to be drawn to such a dead carcase.

I do hope this answer helps.
