Question: How could a loving God allow a child to be born with several defects and suffer?

Answer: My thoughts continually go back to the creation of man and the garden of Eden. I think of how a loving Creator created Adam and Eve; the love He had when He said, "Let's make man in OUR image." He wanted man to be perfect as He was perfect. He wanted His communication with man to be intimate. He wanted a love relationship so deep that there would only be a sweet Spirit of happiness as they talked with each other. A love that no man can understand in it's fullness yet, but one day as we draw closer to the coming of our Lord, and He comes to get us; only then will we understand that perfect love that no man can ever give to another person.

This loving Creator created Adam and Eve perfect. They lived in a perfect world, walked in the shadow of a perfect God, talked with a perfect love that was a happy, sweet bliss. Animals played together instead of eating each other. Flowers never died and leaves never fell off trees. No sorrow, pain, tears, or work; a perfect bliss.

What caused such sadness in God's heart? What caused all this perfectness to stop? S-I-N! Disobedience to God! Listening to the father of all lies. Now, there is nothing perfect on this earth. The only person who was perfect on this earth was JESUS.

God made man in His image
God made man perfect
God breathed life into man
God loves man
God keeps His vows
God sent His Son, The Light
God gives Hope

Satan wants to destroy the image of God
Satan corrupted man
Satan brings death
Satan hates man
Satan breaks every promise
Satan sends demons, they bring darkness
Satan gives eternity in hell

God chose the exact sperm and egg to unite as one, to form a person to love, serve, and worship Him. That person is an image of the Almighty God. Notice I did not say fetus; I said person. Man has changed the words of God to make himself feel comfortable. It tells us in the Bible "man looks on the outside, but God looks on the inside." Scripture that needs to be read; Psalms 139:15-17 (conception).

God spoke to Jeremiah 1:5; Isaiah 49:1; Galatians 1:15.

Satan has tried to destroy God's creation from the beginning of time. He has been a murder from the beginning. The father of all liars, the deceiver of all deception, the tempter of all temptation, who even had the nerve to tempt our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Adam and Eve heard the warning from God (Genesis 2:16,17).

They both knew they had sinned (Genesis. 3:1-7).

Sin entered, they become Spiritually Dead- blaming each other. The sweet loving communications gone for ever (Genesis. 3:10-13).

Their children and every generation after that, became a part of not only that sin, but also imperfections in their bodies, as well as their soul and spirit. Death in their soul, death in their spirit and death in their bodies (Exodus 20:5).

Let's look at Acts 3:2. This man was a poor beggar. Even thought this man was a beggar doesn't mean he was not in God's favor, nor does it stop him from any blessings that God will and can bestow on him. He was born a cripple, it didn't come from an accident, but from the womb of his mother. Forty years he was a cripple and the mercies of the Lord fell upon him in His perfect love. His whole body couldn't move normally but his eyes were fixed on the ones God sent his way. Out of our Lord's wonderful love this man was touched. The mercy of God was mingled with the poor man's affliction.

In John 9:1-8, Jesus saw a blind man. The disciples asked him who sinned, this man, or his parents. Jesus answered, "Neither this man sinned, nor his parents: but the works of God should be made manifest in him."

No one who loves the Lord wants to see children suffer in any way. But there is suffering in this world. We desire to have children because the Heavenly Father put that desire in us. There is nothing so precious as having a new creation lying in your arms that is a part of you. The bonding of God's love began at conception and now you hold The Father's creation next to your heart and you feel life that only the Lord can give.

There was a young woman, around 21 years of age. When she had her first child, it was born with a hole in its heart and the heart rate was extremely high. The Lord healed the hole in the heart and brought down the heart rate very quickly after prayer. The doctors said a year, but the Lord said different, less than 6 months. Her next child, the doctors said she must abort the baby because tests showed it had a very bad case of Down Syndrome. Her answer to the doctor was, "God trusted me to take care of this baby. It is murder to kill the baby. No, I will not abort this child that God has trusted me to raise and teach about God no matter how severe the baby is." By the way, the baby was born normal. God honored her witness to the doctors. She stood up with faith and trusted in God.

I believe that God allows us to go through things in our life for a reason. Children are a gift from God. He has given them to us to love and to raise so they can give Him honor. It hurts us to see a child suffer, but if that child was never conceived in the womb, he or she could never know God or be able to give God glory if not born. We need to realize that when a child has birth defects, God knows and can use that child to reach others like no one else can. They are so very special in God's eyes. His love for them is so deep.

We ask God many things, like why do children have to suffer the heartbreak of a father whom they trusted, molest them, his own child? Why are they beaten or worse yet, killed by their mother? It is because of the sin in this world and the "me" and "I" selfishness. This world has been telling everyone it is okay to think of yourself first. We have become little "gods" in ourselves. It is however you feel, do whatever and not love the Lord thy God with all your heart, soul and spirit. John 3:16 says: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." This is your answer.

We were not created to stay on this earth but we are created to one day be with our Heavenly Father in Heaven. To cry Holy, Holy, Holy, to sing heavenly songs and to magnify the Lord. This is the will of the Master Creator, that we are marvelously wrought by the Master's hands before we were born to be directed on the mysterious pathway of our pilgrimage of life. Andrew Fuller wrote, "We are made for eternity. This present life is only the introductory part of our existence."

Thomas Manton wrote, "But as yet, we have spoken but of the casket [bodies] wherein the jewel lieth. The soul, that Divine spark and blast, how quick, nimble, various, and indefatigable in its motions! How comprehensive in it's capacities! How it animates the body, and is like God Himself, all in every part! What a value hath God set upon the soul! He made it after His image. He redeemed it with Christ's blood."
