Lesson 27 - Bible Instructions and Examples for Children and Youth (Text Version)

Little Children:

"Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world" (1 John 4:4).

"Little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth" (1 John 3:18).

"Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous" (1 John 3:7).

"And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming" (1 John 2:28).

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time" (1 John 2:18).

"...I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father" (1 John 2:13).

"I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake" (1 John 2:12).

"My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous" (1 John 2: 1).

"In this the children of God are manifest (known), and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother" (1 John 3:10).

"In this the children of God are manifest (known), and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother" (1 John 3:10).

"Be followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath give himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient (meaning proper): but rather giving thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be not ye therefore partakers with them. For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light" (Ephesians 5:1-5).

  1. Young people -- teenagers or young adults, today would not like to be addressed as "little children."
  2. In this case, it seems, that adult Christians were being addressed as "little children."
  3. This term was a term of endearment from the apostle, John, perhaps now an old man of God.
  4. Children are in preparation to become adults.
